To make a routine surgery or telephone appointment, please ring 268410. You will be offered the next routine appointment.

If it is an EMERGENCY, you will be offered an EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT for the currently running surgery and you will be given an Emergency card which sets out the terms for consulting a doctor in these circumstances.

If after reading the card you feel that your problem does not constitute an “emergency”, please see the Receptionist who will allocate a more appropriate appointment.

In an Emergency, you may be TRIAGED by the Nurse first, i.e. routine but essential details and preliminary checks are needed and the information relayed to the Doctor if considered necessary.

If the matter is more appropriately managed by the Nurse, you will be advised accordingly and this will save you time in waiting to see the Doctor unnecessarily.

If the Nurse feels that it is appropriate for the Doctor to see you, or if you are not entirely happy with the advice given to you and still wish to wait to see the Doctor, she may give you our Emergency card and advise you to take a seat to see the Doctor.

It may be unavoidable that surgeries run late especially if there are a number of emergencies or additional urgent issues to deal with first. The Receptionists can keep you informed and if you are unable to wait please ask for an alternative appointment. Your cooperation in this regard is appreciated.

SPECIAL NOTES:

1. An appointment is booked for one person or one problem. If you need time for more than one person or more than one problem, you must book a longer appointment with reception. The doctor will spend the appropriate amount of time to the problem presented.

2. The Practice does not deal with dental problems. These must be referred to your Dentist. If you are not registered with a Dentist you should telephone NHS Direct on0845 4647.

3. Cancelling an Appointment. If you are unable to attend an appointment please let reception know as soon as possible in order that the appointment may be allocated to someone else.

4. For Minor illnesses, please consult your Pharmacist before going to your Doctor.

These include: cold, flu, fever, cough, sore throat, headache, diarrhoea, dandruff, migraine, head lice, spots on the face, tooth ache, mouth ulcers, cold sores, period pains, discomfort in infant teething, dry skin, no appetite, nappy rash, rash, insect bites, constipation, piles, itchy feet, warts, blocked ears, body ache, pain in leg, and indigestion.

You can also buy plasters and bandages etc to treat minor injuries at home.

If there is any minor ailment not listed above you can still go to the chemist and talk to your Pharmacist who will advise accordingly. You can buy treatment for all the conditions listed above and a visit to your doctor may not be necessary. Whenever you visit your Doctor please bring all medicines you are taking with you.

There is a list of the above conditions at Reception and in the Waiting Room.

6. Please do not walk into the surgery expecting an emergency appointment: this s not a walk-in centre nor an A & E department. You need to arrange an appointment beforehand.

Assistant GP/Locum
As this is a single-handed practice, there will inevitably be times when Dr Clarkson will be unavailable. On such occasions, an experienced Locum doctor will be available in order to provide quality medical attention to patients.
